Jenny Newcombe

Registered Music Therapist

Jenny completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Queensland and then taught Music and English in secondary schools in Brisbane and Melbourne. A period teaching English language to adults in TAFE and community settings followed completion of a Bachelor of Education at La Trobe University. With a commitment to public education and the rights of the disadvantaged, she then had a successful career in advocacy, public policy and community development across a range of not-for-profit and government organisations.

Music has always been a passion and pastime for Jenny, with a particular interest in Irish folk, blues, jazz, ambient and classical genres. She sings and plays piano, violin, viola and guitar. In 2016, Jenny decided to pursue Music Therapy studies with the goal of helping people through the creative power of music, completing a Master of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne in 2018. She is based in Brunswick in Melbourne’s inner north. Jenny has experience working with autistic children, children with developmental delays, adults with acquired brain injuries, dementia, neuro-degenerative and neurological conditions.
